The stabbing happened at about 3:30 p.m., and police say that Jose Roberto Artiga may have been involved.

A warrant for malicious wounding has been obtained for Artiga, of Sterling. Artiga, who lives at the residence on Forest Ridge Drive, allegedly stabbed an acquaintance at the home, Troxell said.

Artiga fled the scene and is believed to be in the area on foot, Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Kraig Troxell said.

A weapon was recovered, but it is unclear if Artiga remains armed at this time. Artiga is described as a 27-year-old Hispanic male with light skin.

He is further described as having short cropped black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a gray sweater with the lettering “ECKO” on the front, Troxell said.

Police say Artiga could be in the area of the W&OD Trail near Herndon.

The victim is being treated at a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, Troxell said.

Anyone who knows where Artiga is should call Investigator M. Bush at 703-777-0475. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call Loudoun Crime Solvers at 703-777-1919.

Anyone with information leading to an arrest and indictment could be eligible a reward of up to $1,000.
