Not that I should have to explain but I did suffer from dyslexic so English and reading was always a challenge. I did not say I did not have respect for myself or others. I pay a fortune in taxes. I spend a large amount of my free time running a charity that raises a large amount of money for the less fortunate in Loudoun County. I work with Meal’s on Wheels, I volunteer at the local shelter. My husband spends his free time coaching football, not because our children are on the team but because he was raised by a single mother and had other boys in his neighborhood that looked out for him. If you read your history you would know the main difference between slavery in Africa and European chattle slavery. In Africa you could be made a slave for many reasons, also slavery was not generational. European slavery enslaved people for one reason and that was the color of their skin. When African farmers needed more laborers, they bought slaves, that way they increased production, at a reduced cost. The triangle trade routes would not have been possible without the cooperation of African slave traders who raided villages to capture the commodity in demand. The slaves were cut off from their kin. Whomever the fool was that said they know a small business owner who needs to hire 15 people and can’t fill the positions is lying. I gurantee that person is not paying the average wage for the position or the person does not exist. Unemployment max in VA is 380 a week. Who can live on that in Loudoun County. I have just spoken with the Loudoun County Sheriff’s office and the suspect has not been apprehended. She said they do believe he is still in the Ashburn area and armed.

I am so tired of people making ignorant comments about certain areas, when most of the time they have no idea what they’re talking about. I was raised in Sterling Park and my parents still live there. I attended Park View and graduated with honors with a Masters degree. I hardly think I am “trash” just because I’m from Sterling. Perhaps Park View in “trashy” Sterling Park could have helped some of you learn proper grammar, such as the correct too/to and the difference between role and roll. Some of you have some sense, stating that not all poor people are criminals and crime can happen anywhere. In my line of work, I see firsthand that some of these people living in the “ghetto” have had terrible lives with terrible luck, and are trying to get their way out of there and do the best they can for their children. Yes, some are lazy, but that’s true of some “rich” people, too. Frankly, one of Loudoun’s biggest problems is the “rich” children who are handed everything, become entitled, rude, and have no respect for anyone or anything. I’m much more afraid of them than people in the “ghetto.”

That sense of entitlement is getting worse. We have a friend who owns a business and he can’t find the 15 people he needs to fill his open positions. He is paying 13$ an hour. Why can’t he fill them, because people are making more on un-employment so why bother!

This crime is not about who is President, or if someone is living in Ashburn or Reston. We have had a growing problem with crime for the last 30 years, even more! You can argue we are wasting money in Iraq and that is Bush fault, and some can argue we are wasting money in Afghanistan and that is Obama’s fault. This issue is not about politics, in fact until we stop blaming and can stand together and work toward solving the problem it will continue to get worse and spread. Crime has not been a problem in only the inner city for decades!  4 of the last Presidents spent more money supporting foreign poverty then they did dealing with the crime situation. That is a problem! So is it sad Ashburn had a robbery, yes, will it happen again, yes. Does it matter if the criminal was poor, rich, black, which, purple, no! He was a bad person who committed a crime! Stop the none-sense and the blaming.

Jayanthi, are you serious?? crime can happen anywhere and can e committed by anyone. the false sense of security people associate with out zip code is mid boggling. there’s no such thing as a “safe place” where crime doesn’t happen! any place inhabited by people will have crime- PERIOD. rich, poor, black , white, brown- crimes of opportunity, passion, need or greed- ashburn isn’t exempt.

No part of Ashburn could be accurately categorized as a slum.  This is simply your own racist sensibilities, I’m sure.
According to crime statistics on PolicyMap.com and the LC crime map website…MOST arrests in Ashburn have been white males.  There has been only ONE homicide in Ashburn involving an African American.  ALL OTHERS have been white males.
That’s not an opinion.  That’s a fact.
The shame is that people like you voted for Chimpy and the Dark Lord two times in a row so that these imbeciles could waste BILLIONS in Iraq, instead of CORRECTING the domestic problems associated with ghettos.

I really know that I should not respond to this comment, but I can’t resist. Well “EattheRich” crime happens everywhere! Small towns, big towns. Rich kids commit crimes too! Not sure why you feel the need to mock Ashburn Mom’s as if we are all Soccer mom’s! Not sure where the humor is in a robbery or anyone losing their sense of safety. I have young children and a son who walks home from High school, I don’t find any humor in his safety. Not sure why you assume the robbery lives in Ashburn or that he is poor. Rich kids commit crimes too! And the Ashburn police are very quick to respond!

I can’t beleive this is happening in Ashburn VA, this is more like a incident in down town DC. This is why I can’t send my kids out even for a walk around the block, this is such a shame folks.

Build the apartment slums, and they shall come.  And come they have, so now you soccer moms be sure to enjoy your new loss of sense of saftey Ashburnites!  That place has become so foreign to what Ashburn was originally built to be.  What a shame.  Get used to hearing these reports as there is not enough police presence there to support the size that Assburn has grown to geographically.
