A 13-year-old Ashburn girl who went missing July 24 has been found safe and unharmed.
Racheal Cardenas was last seen walking in the area of Bonlee Square and Fincastle Square at about 8 a.m. July 24, prompting the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office to send out a missing person’s alert.
Racheal was located near the Ashbrook Commons Plaza the night of July 25, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Kraig Troxell said.
Police determined the teen left her home on her own accord.
see if you have any sexual predators in your area…

John, I believe you are a true cry for help. You may have lived in fear of your parents and most likely have adult issues.
It is very difficult to raise children today. With that said, I do believe to many parents are more friends than parents and are afraid to discipline their children. PS- check the state files- we have many sex offenders living in Ashburn-who are from out of state.
john is an internet tough guy
John, you sound like one of those people who are experts at raising other people’s children, but who have none of their own. You want kids to start “fearing and respecting” their parents? You sound like a moron. If I feared someone, I certainly wouldn’t have much respect for them.
You know, instead of all of the mean comments on here about her parents, etc…let’s be happy that we do not have a dead child and a murderer on the loose in our neighborhood. Put things into perspective, people. Honestly
My Mom prayed for this Thank yu God that she is safe. i hope they solve those issues she may have had.
Thank goodness she is safe! I hope who or what ever caused her to run away gets resolved at home. Every teenager makes mistakes and I’m glad this didn’t end badly. As for the idiot that wants to make her family pay for the resources, perhaps he should walk a mile in her families shoes before judging. Last time I looked, I didn’t think he was in charge.
I ran away once..but my parents live in the woods, so it was more like I was camping…
So glad Rachael was found safe and sound!
Those of you who thing not holding the parents responsible for repaying for the resources are the same as wiling to pay for the therapy to help resolve a problem of parents being their child’s friend instead of being their parent. It’s time to return that children to start fearing and respecting their parents.
The sheer numbers that rallied around to help should make some of you with the more negative comments feel so much better about your community. For whatever reason, she left, but this headline is so much better than if they had found a body. This will open the families eyes to getting whatever help any of them need. There is so much bad in the world, that be grateful you live in an area where people DID help.
So a girl runs away and you think the family should pay for the resources that went into finding her? You are either heartless or an idiot, but you’re obviously not a parent (or at least not much of one). Or maybe you just think your perfect, but probably far from it. We are a community and when a child goes missing, we pull together to try to find them and offer whatever support we can. I, for one, and very thankful that Rachael was found safe and sound. I hope the likes of you get a life.
Requardless of her reasons for running away, we should all be thankful that this didn’t end up the way we all were thinking it was going to end up. She is safe and home! We all have our issues at home and sometime we think that running away will be best and she is just a kid for God Sakes! Give her a break! Who cares if anyone is pissed about us pulling together and helping find her. If we didn’t do that as a community as fast as we did then this could have turned out much worse…...is that what we wanted? No…. we don’t need to make her family pay for the resource, I would hope that if my children went missing that the same resources would be used for my family….wouldn’t you?
Guys just leave her alone she had her own reasons for running away and it is none of your business why she did it
I do not know her but I am just glad she is safe.

Now that she is found, make her parents pay for all the resources that were spent and maybe they will have a stronger handle on their child.
This stupid little kid running away from home then making the whole community worried for her. Signs all over Ashburn with her picture. She doesn’t call to say she is OK or anything. Then they find her near the plaza. This is why people who really get kidnapped aren’t really pursued by the police until it’s too late. This little idiot.
I am so glad to hear she is safe. It is interesting how many people said “there is no way she would leave without telling her parents”
you guys are so stupid! you dont even know her! i do. im not talking to the paper, but to the person who said “from what i understand this teen would NOT just walk away without telling her parents” i knew her… she used to go to my school. she had hard times at her house. it doesnt really surprise me that she did run away. and remember. hundreds of teens run away every day.
Did you people read the story? She has been found safe and unharmed and apparently left of her own accord.
so Where did she sleep on Saturday night? Did she really leave of her own will?
for all you that use facebook or twitter - please post this girls photo!!! As a community, we need to help ind this lovely girl.
From what I understand about this young lady she would NOT just walk off without informing her family.
LTM does your paper know if there are any planned/organized searches for her, and where the public can get more information.
In the meantime, yes let’s all keep Racheal and her family in our prayers.
I am praying that they find this missing teen safe and unharm.
I am praying that find this missing teen safe and unhard.
