Primrose preschoolers shop for Thanksgiving dinners
photoTimes-Mirror Staff Photo/Aaron Koepper. Primrose owner Adela Taboada picks a can of soup off the shelf and hands it to Primrose pre-school students in Wegman’s.

Charity starts early for students at the Primrose School of Ashburn.

Eight to 10 four year-old students spent around half an hour Wednesday morning moving through the aisles of Wegman’s in Leesburg, helping fill a cart with Thanksgiving food for families in need.

For the past couple weeks, the pre-schoolers have been doing chores around the house in exchange for money to help pay for the shopping.

“One of the things we do throughout the month is emphasize the importance of giving back,” owner Adela Taboada said. “The children get to see from beginning to end the work they do and how it pays off.”

The students collected $150 to spend plus parent donations and donations from Wegman’s.

The list of foods bought includes rice, green beans, corn, noodles, cranberry, peas, soup and mashed potatoes.

Editor’s note: This story has been corrected with the correct name and spelling of the Primrose School of Ashburn. The Loudoun Times-Mirror regrets the error.
