While hundreds of trade negotiators from the U.S. and eight overseas nations are meeting to discuss trade negotiations at Lansdowne, several U.S. groups are planning a rally to demand a seat at the table. The Citizens Trade Campaign issued an announcement Sept. 6 that they plan to bring together more than 40 labor, environmental, public health and community organizations to a rally on Sept. 9 outside the Lansdowne Resort, the host of the meeting.
The CFC is a Washington-based coalition of founded in 1992 to oppose the North American Free Trade Agreement. The announcement claims participation by the Sierra Club, Communications Workers of America, HealthGAP, Friends of the Earth and Occupy Wall Street.
The current round of negotiation under the Trans-Pacific Partnership began Sept. 6 and will continue through Sept. 15. The rally is set to begin at 3 p.m.
