Walter “Buddy” Rizer has been promoted to assistant director of the Loudoun County Department of Economic Development, county officials announced Feb. 6.
Rizer, previously the business development officer at the county’s Department of Economic Development, has “been key in the successful development of the information technology communications cluster in Loudoun,” reads a statement from the county.
“I’m excited about this opportunity,” Rizer said. “I’m very passionate about the future of this community and thrilled to be working with an accomplished team of professionals to reach the county’s economic development goals.”
Rizer has worked on expansions at Rockwell Collins, Neustar, Digital Realty Trust, RagingWire, Carpathia and Latisys.
“Buddy is respected for his business and sales skills, both inside and outside the organization,” said Loudoun County Administrator Tim Hemstreet. “He is a valuable asset to our economic development team.”
Rizer’s resume also includes stints radio as an owner, program director and on-air personality. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Towson State University.
