Salahis to host polo event

White House crashers Tareq and Michaele Salahi are hitting the party circuit again.

They will host the International Polo Championships and Fashion Show June 12. The Salahis – former owners of Oasis Winery in Fauquier County – are the founders of America’s Polo Cup, which hosts the event. The Polo Cup has been held in Leesburg in the past but the event will be in Washington, D.C., this year.

“The fun-packed weekend will be filled with exciting polo matches, fine Virginia wines, a fashion show and live musical performances by headliners representing India, the U.S. and a surprise performance,” the Salahis said in a press release issued by America’s Polo Cup May 4.

While the Polo Cup draws a large crowd each year, the event and its founders have been plagued by legal troubles.

America’s Polo Cup and Tareq Salahi are currently facing a lawsuit in Fauquier County by Market Salamander, which is owned by Sheila Johnson in Middleburg. The lawsuit, filed Jan. 28, 2008, claims Market Salamander was not paid for services they provided at the America’s Polo Cup (formerly America’s Cup of Polo) in 2007 at Morven Park in Leesburg. No trial date has been set.

CNN has reported that the Salahis are involved in 16 lawsuits in Fauquier County, either as plaintiffs or defendants.

The Salahis are most known for their attendance at a White House state dinner in November 2009. The Salahis held no invitation to the event honoring India’s Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, but managed to get onto White House grounds and through the Secret Service.

The Polo Cup will be held at polo fields in West Potomac Park, according to the the press release. Festivities will include an exclusive VIP polo player party, a polo match with the game ball being thrown in by a Bollywood Celebrity, a “Pretty Woman” half-time divot, and a “Best Hat” and “Best Dressed Contest.”

square peg web

Why is Tareq Salahi getting special treatment?

Is it because he’s wealthier than Gates?
            .

Funny there are no updates of the event on the website yet they are already promoting next year’s event.  I am dying to know if this event really went on and to what level.

So how did the event go?  Was it all it was billed to be?  or did you get scammed and taken like everyone else that comes in contact with these two individuals?

Who really cares? Honestly, who wants to attend an event where we would be served by poor, unwitting vendors that have a high probability of not getting paid? Seriously!

Interesting posts.  Although I understand everyone’s frustrations with the Salahis I do have reason to believe that the polo match will take place this weekend at the Mall.  Since I bought tickets to the event, I decided to call the park to confirm the event.  The gentleman I spoke to on the phone said “As far as I know yes it is” when I asked him if the polo match was still going on this weekend.

Please stop saying they own Oasis Winery….they do not!!!  Also, please have some enterprising reporter check to see if a permit has been issued to West Potomac Park for the event.

I play soccer on that field and I can only imaging what it will do to the ponies.  Can you say broken ankles?

Respect the sport, don’t you just love this comment?

It’s like a gruesome accident where I just can’t look away.  too funny.

OK, GET THIS….now they have turned into stalkers….they were lurking around the White House Dinner last night, just blocks away, we know because the limo they were in got a speeding ticket..JUST 2 BLOCKS AWAY…..ugh….they need serious therapy and so do all of us for keeping up with them….me included….ugh

Link to article in Washington Post that sums up these losers great.  And I love the coments section.

I agree completely, old school.  In the old days, they would have been tarred, feathered, and run out of town.  As it is, they should be prosecuted and further “operations” by them should be prohibited.

I can’t believe this couple continues to make fools out of our local historic area and the Nation.  They should of been arrested for fraud.  The only reason anyone with any sense would attend this event is to see what bizarre thing they will do next!

I’m STILL laughing about her taking SIX HOURS to have her hair done for the White House caper.  Apparantly that Georgetown salon guaranteed improvement—not miracles!

The prior link I posted may not work.

Maybe we should all crash it!!  Wonder which suppliers will get taken to the cleaners this time around?

Well this isn’t too surprising….

From ABC News 7 (today)

Salahi said he has a permit for the event but the Park Service says one has been applied for but not yet issued. Without it, the event cannot take place.

From the Washington Post (I didn’t ask the question, but I guesss somebody who read my inital comment here did - I like their tag line)

Don’t mean to beat a dead polo pony

I’m reluctant to bring up the poster-child deadbeats, the Salahis, but I am bugged by the continued hype [most recently in the Loudoun County Times] of the Salahis’ “America’s Polo Cup” to be held on the “National Mall” June 11 and 12. Well, actually, even though the Web site says the “National Mall,” if you look at the map, it’s West Potomac Park instead. But even there, I believe, there currently is construction activity. Can some enterprising reporter please check with the Park Service to confirm/deny whether there has even been any permit pulled/issued for that so-called “event”? The Web site also states that Tourmobile will be running “complimentary” shuttle buses to the “event.” Does Tourmobile know about this? Do these folks have the audacity to continue a scam?

The last I checked a couple weeks ago, the Salahis had filed their application for a permit to have an event in that spot, and the Park Service was still running the paperwork. I have no idea if they are successfully selling any tickets, which I imagine could be difficult considering the wave of negative publicity about their organization.

Seems like we need a good dermatologist to remove these Salahi-warts that are lingering on the ass of Loudoun. Maybe it’s time they moved away and lowered the property values of another county?

What a joke!  Too bad the LTM doesn’t do any real reporting.  They just print press releases without doing any real news gathering or fact checking.

That wiki site is great.  how about this one

“In Florida, a polo magazine editor said the Salahis submitted pictures for a December 2008 article that identified Michaele Salahi as a “former Miss USA.” No record exists of her winning that beauty crown, pageant officials said.[136][137][138]”

and a redskin chearleader, what a joke!!!

These con artists should be made to pay the vendors they’ve already burned before they are allowed any further events.

Be very careful of these people.  Looks like they have no team to play either.

2010 Polo Cup World Championship
On December 3, 2009, Indian Embassy spokesman Rahul Chhabra announced that India had canceled its planned participation in the 2010 Polo Cup World Championship (an apparent reference to the America’s Polo Cup), a charitable event organized by the Salahis.[81][82] Fox News subsequently reported that the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Affairs is investigating a complaint by a Singapore business man that the Salahis continued to sell tables and tickets for the event, even after India had withdrawn.[83] To promote the event, the Salahis traveled early in February 2010 to Australia, where local news media referred to Tareq as a “D.C. lawyer” and to Michaele as a “Redskins cheerleader”.[84] The Press Trust of India reported in April 2010 that the Salahis were planning to hold the event on June 12, featuring U.S. and Indian polo teams.[85] Subsequent media reports appeared to confirm that the Salahis are moving forward with the event, apparently with new sponsors that do not include the Indian Embassy.[86][87][88]

@DebbiePolo, so you said “America’s Polo Cup is the best thing that Polo has done.” implying that the best thing that the ENTIRE SPORT OF POLO has done is the “America’s Polo Cup”?!?!?!?!?  Are you kidding???  That statement alone is an embarrassment to the sport as well as the true polo community!!

These people are complete imposters and an absolute embarrassment to the sport of Polo and our community.  Can’t they move to LA or NYC and fake it there, they would fit in much better!

You’ve got to be kidding me.  How do people get away with crap like this?  Anyone else would have spent time behind bars for the kind of fraud the Salahis have done.  Geez, they must know a lot of people in high places—people who don’t have a problem with dishonesty and criminal behavior.  How many people do you know who don’t pay their bills and actuallyl get away with it?  Talk about trashy.

Just in case you didn’t know…  “JW” is not one of the Salahis.

Anyone foolish enough to provide any services in relation to this event should demand cash payment up front.  These two grifters seem to have made their faux fortune by simply not paying others what they rightfully owed for products services rendered.  Frankly, I find them both disgusting and wish we had never heard of them.

funny, the national mall doesent even know about the event. above is a link to the schedule of events on the national mall for june.

Save your money- It’s not even good polo

“SusamD” who posted here is Missy Holt, a/k/a Michaele Salahi.

Haters and jealous? How old are these people - 12? I guess Barack Obama is a jealous hater too since he made fun of them as well at the WHCD. Wait that doesn’t make sense - I thought he “patroned” the America’s Polo Cup like all past Presidents. Note they were even too notorious to have someone take them as a guest to that, which is pretty hard to do given some of the past disreputable attendees.

But really, The Salahi’s are like the gift that keeps on giving. Some of the greatest amusement with making fun of them is how much better they make us all feel about ourselves. I’m not the type to be judgemental of other people for their politcal/religious beliefs - how do I really know that what I think is the “right answer” so to speak. But seriously, this aptly put “train wreck” makes me feel downright superior. Which in this case means (1) having a job (2) paying my bills (3) not creating a fake charity to apparently embezzle money (4) not financially ruining my parents. See easy…

Though I must say, my favorite fake Salahi is charcter is David Mortz? There’s a profile page with the Salahi’s typical grab and click “celebrity” photos that are titled something like Invite-Only Pre America’s Polo Cup event. I’d like to know what America’s Cup Polo event was at the National Building Museum. I’m in commercial real estate and am quite familiar with the venue. This was obviously some random function there they probably crashed. Poor John McCain…he got the Biden treatement.

Sorry, I know this is long but just one more thing. The individuals who are claiming to love the event and have been involved with it since the beginning - are you proud of all the money that was raised for charity? Please respond.

This is so sad—but I can’t look away from this proverbial YouTube “Best of Train Wrecks”.

Perhaps that is why the paper put this up?

They aren’t stupid;  imagine being on the receiving end of the PR performance for this article?

Where do you look?  How do you keep from laughing?  Crying?

Maybe the public response ongoing in the comments will have a larger effect than any civil or criminal action.

Or not.

Tareq, everyone knows its you posting here.

Just for the truth record “SusanD” and “DebbiePolo” comments were also written by Tareq. Okay, Tareq, people know your game by now - Liar, Cheat, Fraud, Scammer.  You are all of those and then some. Anyone who believes this event is real is really stupid!!! But I cannot believe the LTM was this stupid as to print this scam event.

This is an awesome event that I have been involved in now since the beginning .

America’s Polo Cup is the best thing that Polo has done.  The day has everything in it.

There are the same few people who are so jealous of the Salahi’s and have become obsessed with them.  We all laugh about the haters that are jealous of them.

See you for Polo!

Deb

I can’t wait for the event.  Such a good time.
My family & I will be there.
Forgive the jealous ones.

SLUM DOGS!

Shame on the LTM!! You are giving these celebrity wannabees exactly what they want…they are disgusting people acting like spoiled children. Go back to the original videos of them in the WH State Dinner and you can just see “her” making sure they got the full time of pix taking. She held her husband back to be sure they stayed in the limelight longer…disturbing that this warrants an item in your paper.

Too funny.  When you go to their webpage, on the bottom are all stock pictures of “Live Performances”, “Fashion Show”, “Demonstrations” (with a Navy plane…).  Tickets are will call only.  Hope no one flushes their money down the Salahi toilet on this one.

Loudoun Times Mirror must be hurting big time to run this type of trash article in their paper and to even run it on the front page!  This article should never had made the news anywhere. This is a scam article about scammers. Times Mirror you can do better than this.

I’m confused as to how they can actually try to hold this event. Are they still saying it’s at the West Potomac polo fields by the Tidal Basin (not quite the National Mall as advertised)? I thought they didn’t have a permit. I live in DC and drive by this field every day on my way home from work in Arlington. It appears to be a construction zone (supposedly a staging area for the new MLK memorial) and is entirely fenced off with cranes clearly visible and such. The only available area seems to be the baseball field directly next to it. Maybe some intrepid reporter can figure this one out for us. If there is no permit - wouldn’t this clearly be fraud at this point? Astonishing what these lowlife con artists are getting away with….

I do notice though on the “official” website they no longer make any claims about this being a charitable event.

This article fails to note the 2009 “America’s Polo Cup” was held near Poolesville, Maryland.  As with the Leesburg events the prior 2 years, vendors were stiffed in Maryland as well.

For example, this upstanding couple stiffed the Montgomery County Maryland Liquor Dispensary for $14K in the form of a bounced check written off of the account of their purported “charity”.

Therefore, it’s no suprise, I suppose, that their traveling scam show has moved to yet another jurisdiction.

I really hope this event fails.  I was really hoping that they got arrested for the white house thing it’s embarrassing to everyone in the community.  And Leesburg is lucky they moved their event as it’s just a black eye on Loudoun County if we support such frauds.

Really??? Haven’t we all had enough of these posers? The best way to get rid of them is to deprive them of attention…so please, LTM, no more stories.

Loudoun Times-Mirror: Gossip Rag for the Loudoun elites.

Don’t mind the budget crisis or real news or anything.

What a joke of a paper.

Wow, Ms. Knock.  Ouch.

But entirely believeable.

At least Loudoun won’t be supporting it with tax dollars this time, while gushing that it is a worthy boost for the rural economy.

Just so you know, the comment from “Beth Harris” above was written by Tareq Salahi himself.

This has been Tareq’s habit well before he and his wife were exposed to the world as con-artists. Back during his pretend polo career, Tareq Salahi was notorious for creating many “sock puppet” online identities to post to polo-based websites, trying to promote his B-list polo events, pretending that his small-time events and leagues had some kind of grass-roots support. He even fabricated two human beings entirely: supposed polo bigwigs “David Mortz” and “Roger Stern”, who amazingly no one in the polo world has ever met. They supposedly are commmissioners of leagues, but they exist in online form only and neither have ever been photographed. And surprise, surprise—somehow this mysterious pair are frequent facebook and other website comment-posters, all supporting Salahi’s small time scams.
In one of Salahi’s most ridiculous moments, he even did a phone interview pretending to be this “David Mortz” with a Montgomery County, Maryland monthly newsletter, where he lowered his voice by a half-octave to fool the reporter. The reporter now of course knows that it was Salahi himself.
Hi Tareq! I know you are reading this. Post away if you must, but know that we are onto you!
Gotcha!

So the con continues huh?  These dilusional morons should be arrested for fraud already.

This couple really isn’t news. They’re not interesting and they have no charisma. I realize the media is, for some reason, trying to make them interesting. They simply aren’t. They seriously pathetic wannabes, societal hangers-on, social parasites.

hahah nice one Mr. Poser

You don’t need tickets.  Everyone’s expected to crash it - just pretend and claim you were invited.  If you do want a ticket, you’re encouraged to buy it on credit and not pay.

The theme is “come as you aren’t” and attendees are encouraged to pose as someone more famous and important than they really are.

The awards for the “Pretty Woman Half-Time Divot” and “Best Hat” and “Best Dressed” contests are genuine, fake replica watches by Rolax, Omeaga, Tag Heur, Carteir and others!

Awesome!  Cant wait… always my favorite event of the year.

Who is the entertainment this year and how do you get tickets?
