The sole candidate vying for the Broad Run District seat on the Loudoun County School Board was arrested Tuesday for allegedly assaulting his wife.
Kevin Kuesters, 45, was charged with simple assault against a family member on Oct. 4, according to Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Kraig Troxell.
Detailed information on the arrest has not yet been made public by the Sheriff’s Office.
Kuesters on Thursday denied the allegations, saying his wife only accused him of assault and he was taken into custody.
“I didn’t do anything and I was just accused of something and all you need is an accusation,” he said.
The couple, who have been married for 20 years, are going through a divorce, he said.
The candidate said he plans to continue his campaign for office.
Kuesters alleges that his wife is using the incident to get leverage in the divorce proceedings since he’s involved in a political race.
“I’m pretty confident that when I get in front of a judge, I can explain what happened and the charge will be dismissed,” he said.
This is a developing story.
