The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office is currently responding to a report of a suspicious unattended package in Leesburg.
Members of the Sheriff’s Office and the Loudoun County Bomb Squad are on scene at the Shenandoah Building in the 100 block of Heritage Way in Leesburg, near the Wal-Mart.
According to reports, personnel from the building have been evacuated as a precaution and the building is being searched.
Residents are advised to avoid the area until emergency personnel have cleared the scene.
There are no major road closures, but officials are directing traffic in order for drivers to avoid the area, Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Liz Mills said. The investigation is ongoing, Mills confirmed.
UPDATE:
At 12:42 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office communicated via Alert Loudoun that the suspicious package being investigated at Leesburg’s Shenandoah Building had been deemed harmless. Building personnel are reportedly returning to work and emergency services was clearing the scene.
