An inmate at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center died Monday afternoon. The details are being investigated.

According to Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Liz Mills, the Edward Stephen Jones, 35, of Sterling, was found in cardiac arrest during a routine check at approximately 2:20 p.m. on Dec. 10. ADC personnel administered CPR and had the victim taken to the Inova Loudoun Hospital’s Cornwall Campus.

The inmate was pronounced dead in the emergency room.

Law enforcement currently believes that Jones took his own life, although this ruling is tentative pending the medical examiner’s report.

Jones was serving out a 180 day sentence for driving on a suspended license. The judge had suspended 170 days. During his incarceration, he was served with two additional warrants, misdemeanor petty larceny and felony possession of forging instruments.

This is the second death at the ADC in 2012. Scott Landrum died at the ADC on Feb. 3.
