A Sterling man was arrested Saturday after authorities say he assaulted a woman while walking her home from a party.

Wilmer A. Contreras, 30, is charged with assault and battery and drunk in public.

The assault occurred about 9:10 p.m. in the 1000 block of Greenthorn Avenue, according to Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office reports.

The woman suffered minor injuries.

Deputies arrived on scene to find two men holding Contreras down, reports said.
