Sterling man seriously injured in DUI crash

A 34-year-old Sterling man is in critical condition at Inova Fairfax Hospital after his motorcycle was struck by a drunk driver Sept. 10 at the intersection of South Cottage Road and Nalls Court.

The driver of the 2012 Dodge Challenger, who struck the motorcycle, Alvin C. Stotts Jr., 40, of Sterling, was charged with driving under the influence following the 7:15 p.m. incident.

According to Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office reports, the driver of the motorcycle was going north at the Sterling intersection when Stotts, traveling south, crossed the double-yellow line in a curve. After striking the motorcycle, the Dodge continued into a parked vehicle.

Stotts was taken to the Lansdowne Campus of Inova Loudoun Hospital where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
