Three people have been sent to regional hospitals, one by medevac, following a Thursday morning fire at Lansdowne Resort.
According to a fire marshal on scene, a gas-related fire, not an explosion, sprouted at the hotel and conference center around 9 a.m.
Two females were transferred to local hospitals, while a third person, a man with more critical injuries, was flown to Washington Burn Center.
Fire and rescue personnel from Lansdowne, Ashburn, Leesburg, Cascades and Sterling Park were dispatched to the scene, according to the Loudoun County fire and rescue public information office. Upon arrival, crews found that the fire had started in the kitchen area of the resort.
The exact cause of the incident remains under investigation by the Loudoun County Fire Marshal’s Office.
All resort occupants have since been allowed to return to the facility.
