i been knowing ted Nichols for a long time he is part of Nichols hardware ted and his family will be miss by everyone
Such a tragic loss for all of Western Loudoun County. Nichols Hardware is such a constant in our ever changing world. Our prayers go out to the family during this difficult time.
A rare breed to find…not many like the Nichols left in the world. It is a loss for all. Nichols Hardware just has to stay. It is one of the best things about Purcellville! We pray that the store withstands this test and that the folks who work there live to tell how they made it happen…through the most difficult of times. The hearts of Purcellville are with the Nichols family and all who are close to them. Tragic. So sad. Let us all know how to help!
Kelly…you are mistaken. Ted was the third generation owner of Nichols Hardware. Milton Nichols owned Nichols Appliance Center. I worked for Milton back in the 1970’s.
My condolences to the Nichols family.
I’m so shocked and saddened by this news. We live in Hamilton and frequent Nichols Hardware often. Mr. Nichols waited on myself and two boys just last week. This is so very tragic and my heart go out to the family.
Nichols Hardware is owned by a different member of the family. Ted owned Nichols Appliance when it was in Purcellville. He was currently working for an appliance place in Berryville I believe. My prayers go out to the family for this horrible tragedy.
As a friend, I’m still in shock. Ted and Karen were wonderful people, and will be deeply missed. As a Nicols Hardware employee, I’m additionally saddened because the future of the business is questionable. My prayers especially to Ted and Karen’s son and family.
That is horrible, that family has had it hard. My prayers go out to them…
Truly a tragedy and a huge impact on the community. My thoughts and prayers will be with the Nichols’ family and friends.
I grew up next door to Karen and Ted until they moved to their current home near Ted’s parents place. They were the best neighbors and the kindest people I have ever known. They will be missed by everyone they knew. My heart goes out to their son and to all their loved ones.
From the reporter: They do own Nichols Hardware. We’re working on a follow-up for today and for our print edition on Wednesday.
Don’t they own Nichols Harware?
They will be missed in the community - Estelle
So very, very tragic! As a lifetime Purcellville resident, my heart goes out to the families that have been so much to our community. They will be truly missed.
