Three teens arrested after drug robbery

    Antoine D. Byrd
    Joseph A. Ludi
    Oliver S. Thomas

Three Sterling teens are in custody on multiple drug charges after a drug-related robbery led deputies with the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office to a search of their home.

Antoine D. Byrd, 19, Oliver S. Thomas, 18, and Joseph A. Ludi, 18, all of Sterling, were taken into custody on drug and robbery charges.

The Sheriff’s Office was initially drawn into the case after a 19-year-old Sterling man reported being robbed Nov.20 in the area of Greenfield Court in Sterling.

Investigating the incident, deputies learned that the robbery was in fact a pre-arranged meeting to buy drugs. The meeting – initially between the victim and one of the three men charged – ended when the two other suspects approached him, showed him a gun and began searching through his pockets.

The alleged perpetrators were identified and a Nov. 29 search of a home on East Holly Ave. in Sterling provided police with the gun used during the robbery. Deputies also located marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Byrd was charged with robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, use of a firearm during a commission of a felony, possession of a schedule I/II narcotic while in possession of a firearm and possession with intent to sell narcotics. Both Thomas and Ludi were charged with robbery and intent to commit robbery.

According to a prepared release, the Sheriff’s Office indicated that additional charges are a possibility.

What about the 19yr old victim who was selling drugs? What charges will be brought against him?

Why are they not being referred to as adults?  Since they are all 18/19 years old they are legally adults now, and will be prosecuted as such, so let’s stop playing these semantic games and referring to these young men as “teens”, as if they are still under the supervision of their parents.  They’re not.

They look like such nice boys!  I’m sure their mother(s) are horrified.
