The Town of Purcellville is the recipient of the 2011 Facility Safety Award, in the intermediate category.
The Virginia Water Environment Association announced the award during a lunchtime reception at its annual meeting in Virginia Beach. Superintendent Scott House received the award on behalf of the town.
According to the award application, the purpose of the annual award is to encourage wastewater treatment facilities to “participate in promoting an active and effective safety program and to stimulate the collection and reporting of safety data.”
The water reclamation facility has not had an accident since October 2009.
