A Herndon woman was charged Thursday with a felony hit and run after authorities say she struck a 12-year-old girl and her friend with her car as the girls attempted to cross Ashburn Farm Parkway.
Erin F. Dean, 25, was also charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana. She was released from the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on a $2,500 secured bond.
The girl and her friend were treated for minor injuries at Inova Loudoun Hospital following the 5:39 p.m. incident, according to reports.
Deputies said Dean was reportedly stopped at the intersection of Ashburn Farm Parkway and Junction Plaza, but then accelerated forward and struck the two girls, knocking both to the ground.
Dean initially left the scene, but later returned.
