UPDATE: Leesburg toddler dies after falling out of three-story window

A 3-year-old Leesburg boy died Monday from injuries he suffered after falling out of a three-story window.

The 12:13 p.m. Sunday incident, according to Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Liz Mills, was an accident.

“It’s a tragic accident. No foul play is suspected,” Mills said.

The Sheriff’s Office at this time is not releasing the boy’s name.

The window of the home in the 41300 block of Raspberry Drive in Leesburg was open, as the weather was nice, and the child leaned against the screen and fell, according to a Sheriff’s Office spokesperson.

He was airlifted from the scene to Inova Fairfax Hospital with life-threatening injuries on Sunday.

He died about 1:15 p.m. Monday.

With this accident, the Sheriff’s Office is encouraging parents to make sure they have child safety window guards or latches in place at their homes that prevent windows from opening more than 4 inches.

This is a developing story. Check back to loudountimes.com for more information as it becomes available.

So very, very sad and tragic.

How tragic. I feel so bad for his parents, family and friends. I can’t even imagine what they’re going through.

My heart goes out to the family; I cannot imagine their grief.  I pray there are many loving arms to come around and comfort them now.

So sad….almost happened to my son…he knocked the screen out.  After that we only opened windows from the top.  RIP little one.
