The Malea Renee Kanoho Foundation was launched March 2 for the purpose of providing financial support to women under 40 who are battling breast cancer.
Founder Jason Kanoho started the organization to honor his wife’s dying wish of helping other young women fighting the disease.
“So many large foundations focus on research and don’t focus on the actual victim,” said Kanobo.
The Ashburn Pub has adopted the foundation as their primary charity.
Nancy Betz, 38, an Ashburn struggling to pay for breast cancer treatment, received their first grant March 1.
“It gives me hope, and it makes me want to give back too,” Betz said.
In addition to financial support, the group’s volunteers are also with child care and other services during chemotherapy.
