    Youth gymnasts excel at national event

    Three Level 9 APEX gymnasts tumbled their way to glory at the Eastern Nationals Championships, featuring nearly 300 gymnasts May 4-6 in Landover, Md.

    Region 7 champion Maddy Scozzie finished ninth on vault, seventh on beam, tenth on floor and sixth in the all-around. Scozzie is a senior at Broad Run High School and will compete for SUNY Cortland next year.

    Bridgette Schaal and Madison O’Braitis, both competing in their first national contests, joined Scozzie. Schaal earned a fifth place finish on vault, twelfth on floor and fifteenth all-around. O’Braitis finished fourth on bars, eighth on beam and ninth all-around.
