Loudoun swimmers placed first in 11 events at the Colonial Swim League’s All-Star meet Aug. 4 at Countryside Pool in Sterling.
Nine separate swimmers took gold, with Hannah Arndt of the South Riding Stingrays and Lydia Qian of the Broadlands Piranhas winning two events apiece. Arndt finished first in both the girls 8 and under 100 meter individual medley and the 8U 25 butterfly, and Qian placed first in the girls 11-12 50 backstroke and 50 butterfly. Both also earned runner-up finishes.
In addition to Arndt’s two golds, she broke her own CSL record in the girls 8U fly, touching the wall in 16.69 seconds.
Hannah wasn’t the only Arndt with a noteworthy swim meet; Nicholas Arndt, also of South Riding, took first in the boys 8U 25 fly and second in the 25 free.
The best event for Loudoun residents was the boys 9-10 50 back, which saw locals occupy the entire podium. Justin Lee of Ashburn Village placed first in 38.31. Ryan Fisher of South Riding and Dillon Haberland of Broadlands took second and third respectively.
Loudoun also placed top two in the boys 15-18 breaststroke, with Ashburn Farm’s William Clendenin taking first and Illya Ovchynnikov of Countryside taking second. Danny Marron of Ashburn Farm finished fourth in the event.
