A trio of local youth athletes - Beau Everett, Sydney Jenkins and Kayla Hugg - won individual titles at the 2011 Hershey’s Track & Field Games North American Final, Aug. 6 in Hershey, Pa.

Everett, of Ashburn, continued his strong summer by placing first in the 400-meter run in the boys ages 9-10 division. Everett, a member of Special Forces Track Club, delivered a winning time of 1:08.45.

Jenkins, of Leesburg, paced the field in the 200 dash for girls ages 9-10. Jenkins’ time of 29.08 was more than a second faster than her closest competitor.

Hugg, of Ashburn, sprinted to first place with a time of 14.36 seconds in the 100 dash for girls ages 9-10. Her brother, Travis Hugg placed sixth (1:02.95) in the 400 meters for boys ages 11-12.

Sydney Jenkins, Kayla Hugg and Travis Hugg are members of NOVA Athletic Club.

Nearly 500 kids ages 9-14 competed in the North American Final. Athletes qualified for the event through local, state and regional competitions.

NOVA A.C. coach Julie Hayden extends her gratitude to Ron Yopp from Loudoun County Parks, Recreation and Community Services and Paul Berryman, the Virginia State Organizer, for their efforts in organizing events leading up to the North American Final.
