A trio of local youth athletes - Beau Everett, Sydney Jenkins and Kayla Hugg - won individual titles at the 2011 Hershey’s Track & Field Games North American Final, Aug. 6 in Hershey, Pa.
Everett, of Ashburn, continued his strong summer by placing first in the 400-meter run in the boys ages 9-10 division. Everett, a member of Special Forces Track Club, delivered a winning time of 1:08.45.
Jenkins, of Leesburg, paced the field in the 200 dash for girls ages 9-10. Jenkins’ time of 29.08 was more than a second faster than her closest competitor.
Hugg, of Ashburn, sprinted to first place with a time of 14.36 seconds in the 100 dash for girls ages 9-10. Her brother, Travis Hugg placed sixth (1:02.95) in the 400 meters for boys ages 11-12.
Sydney Jenkins, Kayla Hugg and Travis Hugg are members of NOVA Athletic Club.
Nearly 500 kids ages 9-14 competed in the North American Final. Athletes qualified for the event through local, state and regional competitions.
