The club ice hockey teams of Briar Woods and Stone Bridge high schools will skate for the Northern Virginia Scholastic Hockey League championship March 2 at Kettler Capitals Iceplex in Arlington.
Stone Bridge will attempt to repeat as NVSHL champions, while Briar Woods seeks its first-ever title. Stone Bridge won the regular season meeting between the Ashburn teams, 7-5, on Jan. 27. Briar Woods raced out to a 3-0 lead in that game and led 5-4 after two periods.
Briar Woods handily defeated Woodbridge, 6-2, in the semifinals Wednesday. Stone Bridge rallied for an overtime win against Langley in the semis to reach the championship game for the seventh time.
The championship game is set for 6:30 p.m. Friday. Kettler is at 627 N. Glebe Road, Suite 800 in Arlington.
