Bulldogs bite Raiders in Capitals “High School Game of the Week”

The Stone Bridge Bulldogs club hockey team defeated Loudoun County, 8-0, on Dec. 14 at the Ashburn Ice House in the Washington Capitals “High School Game of the Week.”

The Northern Virginia Scholastic Hockey League matchup was voted the Game of the Week earlier in the week from a public poll on the Capitals website. As such, the game featured pre- and post-game analysis, highlights and interviews from the Washington Capitals organization.

The game was scoreless through the first period. Stone Bridge captain Trevor Mack broke the stalemate just 49 seconds into the second period, putting a second-effort shot past County netminder Ben Zeinty.

The Bulldogs would add two more goals in the second period, with Mack, who leads the NVSHL in goals, scoring one and Chris Berry scoring the other two.

Stone Bridge would add three goals in the first five minutes of play in the third period, with Matthew Hough, Luke Grioux and Mack tallying points for the Bulldogs. Kevin Pramuka would round out the scoring for the Bulldogs with six seconds remaining in the game.

Despite allowing eight goals, Zienty made an astounding 70 saves in the game.

Stone Bridge, who won the NVSHL Capitals Cup in both 2011 and 2012, is now 6-0 in the current season. County falls to 1-4 on the year.
