On May 18, the Burke Veterans of Foreign Wars will host the 5th Annual Veterans Golf Classic at Quantico’s Medal of Honor Golf Course.

The Grand Marshall Guest of Honor for the event is Brian Thacker, a Vietnam War veteran and recepient of the Medal of Honor, the highest military award in the country. Thacker, a retired Army first lietenant, risked his life to allow his unit to escape when ambushed in 1971. He then avoided capture for eight days before being rescued by friendly forces.

The tournament will be raising money for the Burke VFW Veteran Relief Fund and will feature several teams of wounded warriors, playing as guests.
