For volleyball players from Loudoun County High School and Tuscarora High School, the pink jerseys they wore during their Oct. 11 match was more than a fashion statement, but another component in the fight against breast cancer.
The jerseys were part of the Raiders’ “Dig Pink” event, an effort to raise money for the Side-Out Foundation during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The event boasted raffles and t-shirt sales, donating profits to the foundation.
The Side-Out Foundation brings together volleyball players, parents and coaches to raise money for breast cancer research and support for patients and their families.
The host Raiders defeated their crosstown rivals, 25-14, 25-9, 25-18, to improve to 14-1 on the season.
