Falcon’s Flores head to Northwestern for football

Recent Briar Woods grad Christian Flores has accepted a roster spot to play football for Northwestern University.

He will be used as a superback, which is a hybrid between an h-back/tight end for the Division 1 Wildcats. Northwestern University is a member of the Big Ten Conference.

Flores, who graduated in the top 2 percent of his class, has been accepted into the prestigious Medill School of Journalism.

After Flores played his first three high school seasons for Briar Woods, he elected to play his final year for the Virginia Lions. Under coach Vince Owens, he caught 24 passes for 493 yards and three touchdowns in seven games.

Hey Chris, Paul LaRock (another lions football player) congrats on making it to the next level! The Owens have worked hard to give kids like us this type of opportunity. Proud of you for working hard to give Lions football a name. Keep up the dream friend! Hope to maybe see you around at a lions game this year if you make it out.

I stand corrected.  He is listed on the Northwestern website as a walk-on with a roster spot.  Congratulations.  The VA Lions usually recruit kids who were cut by their high school teams, so while I’m shocked that a kid went Division 1 after playing on a club level team, good for him.  I should have checked facts before my post.  Good luck.  Maybe the rest of HS athletes should bypass the rigor of high school football and play for the lions.

There is no way that a Big Ten school saved one of its 105-man roster spots for a kid who played on the Virginia Lions.  LTM needs to do some fact checking on this one.

Hay Chris,

This is soooo awesome! I am so happy for you! Don’t forget to come back to see us when you are in Northwestern.

Chris, we’re proud of you! Everyone here in Manila is very very happy for you!
