Nicole Flores of Brambleton was named Player of the Year after an impressive performance at the Middle Atlantic PGA Junior Tour Championship, held Aug. 9-10 at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg.
Flores shot a 2-over par 74 on the final day of competition to capture the girls’ ages 15-18 division title. On day one, she shot a 76 for a total score of 150, four strokes better than the next closest competitor.
The tournament title is her fourth this year. She also won the Gauntlet Golf Club Classic, the Fredericksburg Country Club Classic and the Bowling Green Country Club Classic. Flores made the cut in all eight events this year, placing second twice to go with her four tournament crowns.
Flores wraps up the Middle Atlantic PGA Junior Tour season with 480 points toward her Player of the Year total. Players earn points per finish, with the top five finishes counting toward Player of the Year standings. Flores was 60 points ahead of second place finisher, Elissa Lee.
Flores, a 2012 Briar Woods High School graduate, lettered in varsity golf for three years and was the Falcons’ Most Valuable Player as a senior. She will attend the University of Southern California.
