The Briar Woods Falcons competition cheer squad won their fourth consecutive Virginia AA state championship Nov. 10 at the Siegel Center in Richmond. The Falcons scored 279 points in the finals to edge runner-up Grafton by two points for the title.

Briar Woods also posted the top score in the first round to easily advance to the five-team finals. The Falcons also won Dulles District and Region II titles this postseason.

Tuscarora, making its first appearance at the state competition, placed sixth in the first round, falling one spot shy of reaching the finals. The Huskies claimed the Dulles District’s season championship this fall.

Stone Bridge and Broad Run competed in the AAA state competition, also Nov. 10 at the Siegel Center.

The Bulldogs placed sixth in the first round, just missing out on advancing to the finals. The Cedar Run District champion Spartans finished 15th.

Herndon won the AAA state title with 280.5 points, followed by Fairfax (276).
