Jerry Gordon |
Woodgrove High School will begin the process of hiring a varsity football head coach after Jerry Gordon resigned Jan. 17 following two seasons at the helm.
Gordon guided the second-year school to a 6-14 record in two seasons. During his tenure, Woodgrove won its first-ever game - a 17-14 overtime victory against East Rockingham on Sept. 24, 2010 - and produced a dramatic, comeback win over Purcellville rival Loudoun Valley, 24-21, to close out the 2011 season.
“Woodgrove thanks Coach Gordon for his hard work and dedication to the students, community and school,” Woodgrove athletic director Rusty Lowery stated. “Woodgrove wishes Coach Gordon the best of luck with his future endeavors.”
Lowery said offseason football activities will continue as scheduled. The head coaching position will be posted within the next week on the Loudoun County Public Schools web page.
