Freedom’s Annello leads local contingent at state gymnastics meet

Freedom High School freshman Kaylee Annello produced a sparkling sixth-place finish in the all-around at the Virginia High School League Gymnastics Championships Feb. 19 at Deep Run High School in Glen Allen.

Annello placed in the top 10 on the balance beam, vault and floor exercise and totaled 37.000 points overall. She finished 1.125 points behind state champion Maebelle Pacheo of Salem High School.

Three more Loudoun gymnasts—Woodgrove’s Amanda Huebner (11th), Stone Bridge’s Tori Severin (13th) and Loudoun County’s Jessica Drews (14th) placed inside the top 15 in the all-around.

Stone Bridge finished seventh with 139 points in the team portion of the state competition, contested Feb. 18 at Deep Run. Great Bridge won the state team title with 149.1 points.
