    Harman swims to pair of top five finishes at Northwest Region meet

    Michael Harman of Freedom High School shined brightest among local swimmers at the AAA Northwest Region Swim Championships Feb. 8 at Gar-Field High School.

    Harman led the Eagle boys to a seventh-place team finish. He placed second in the 50-yard freestyle (21.56) and was fifth in the 100 freestyle (49.40). Harman joined Austen Bundy, Alexander Myers and John O'Brien on Freedom's 200 freestyle relay team that finished second in a time of 1:30.33.

    Broad Run received top five finishes from Jack Morrisroe (100 butterfly) and Michael Kopecky (50 freestyle) on its way to an eighth-place team showing.

    The Virginia AAA Swim Championships are Feb. 15-16 at the George Mason Aquatics Center in Fairfax.
