Broad Run High School junior Nigel Johnson scored 28 points in a 72-44 boys basketball victory against Freedom Jan. 13 to surpass 1,000 points for his varsity career. Johnson entered the game with 991 points.
Johnson, an explosive 6-foot-1 guard who recently received a full scholarship offer from Division I Bucknell University, reached the milestone in only 39 games, averaging more than 25 points per contest.
Johnson scored 24 points in a 70-62 win against Potomac Falls the following night to help the Spartans avenge an earlier loss to the Panthers and improve to 11-5 this season.
Broad Run returns to action Jan. 20 at Patriot High School.
Way to go Nigel. That’s a great accomplishment.
