Loudoun County rolls past Sherando in region semifinals
The Loudoun County Raiders punched their ticket for the state tournament with a resounding 68-45 win over host Sherando in the Region II Division 4 girls basketball semifinals Feb. 21 in Stephens City.

Third-year coach Derek Fisher guided Loudoun County to victory against Sherando and former Raider coach Kevin Reed. The No. 3 seed Raiders led 36-16 at halftime and 49-23 after three quarters on their way to the 23-point win over the second-seeded Warriors.

Junior Maggie Phillips scored a game-high 22 points to pace Loudoun County. Sophomore Chloe Knox (13 points) and freshman Alyssa Paige (12) also scored in double figures.

Loudoun County (20-4) will face a familiar foe in the region championship Saturday night. The Raiders will travel to Purcellville to play Dulles District rival Woodgrove, a 59-39 semifinal winner over Millbrook.
