The third time proved to be the charm for Loudoun Valley High School’s girls lacrosse team. The Vikings dropped a pair of regular-season games to Battlefield, but earned revenge in the AAA Cedar Run District tournament championship game May 20 at Liberty High School in Bealeton.
Caitlin Khosla and Andrea Mustacchio scored goals within a minute span to give the Vikings a 12-10 lead with 7:45 left in regulation, and Valley held on down the stretch for a 12-11 victory and the tournament trophy.
Megan Williamson led the Vikings’ offensive attack with five goals and an assist. Kholsa finished with four goals, while Mustacchio added two and Kayla Ebrahimnejad scored once. Kelsey Luck turned away 12 shots in goal.
Valley (15-2) followed that win up by defeating Mills Godwin 23-10 in the first round of the AAA Northwest Region tournament May 23.
Valley will play at Osbourn Park in the region semifinals May 25 at 5:30 p.m.
