NOVA A.C. qualifies 24 athletes for state track and field meet

NOVA Athletic Club has qualified 24 athletes for the Hershey’s Track and Field state meet following their success at the district meet earlier this month at Kettle Run High School in Nokesville.

NOVA A.C. is a youth track and field team for ages 9-18 based in Loudoun. The state meet is June 25 at Monticello High School in Charlottesville. 

Here is a look at the top finishers for NOVA A.C. at the June 4 district meet. 


First place

-Girls ages 9-10: Maya Whitfield (50-meter dash, 400 relay), Kayla Hugg (100 dash, 200 dash, 400 relay, Standing Long Jump), Sydney Jenkins (400 run, 400 relay), Leah Polk (400 relay)

-Girls ages 11-12: Maya Girdy (200 dash, 400 relay), Aniah Bryant, Kate Ervin and Victoria Preast (400 relay)

-Girls ages 13-14: Megan Collins (800 run)

-Boys ages 11-12: Spencer Jenkins (100 dash, 200 dash), Travis Hugg (400 run)

-Boys ages 13-14: Will Smagh (1,600 run, Softball Throw), Tony Fernandez, Alexander Galloway, Leland Girdy and Joshua Thomas (400 relay)


Second place

-Girls ages 9-10 Girls: Maya Whitfield (100 dash), Sydney Jenkins (200 dash, Standing Long Jump)

-Boys ages 11-12: Travis Hugg (200 dash, 400 relay), Connor Anderson, Spencer Jenkins and Saurav Velleleth (400 relay)

-Girls ages 13-14: Jennifer Crawford (800 run), Hailey Roberts, Deja Thompson, Jazmynn Vaughn and Malaya Williamson (400 relay)

-Boys ages 13-14: Jarred Silverman (1,600 run)
