Virginia AA boys soccer quarterfinal: Tabb 2, Broad Run 1 (OT)

Broad Run’s hopes of returning to Radford University - the site of the state semifinals and final - were deflated when Tabb sophomore Riley Maw scored the winning goal in the seventh minute of overtime. The visiting Tigers scored first and last in a 2-1 victory.

The Spartans pulled even with 4:12 left in regulation on senior DT Ellsworth’s goal. Broad Run won Dulles District and Region II tournament championships on its way to the state playoffs. The Spartans, with 13 seniors on the roster, conclude a stellar season at 21-2-1.

A huge congratulations to the Broad Run Girls Soccer team on a great win over Jamestown!  Wish you all the best at Radford!

And the Broad Run Boys Soccer team should hold its head high…it was a well-fought game against Tabb.  The Spartans had plenty of chances against a very determined goalie, and made it thrilling with a comeback to take the game into overtime.

And how awesome it was to sit there watching soccer while hearing how the Broad Run Boys Baseball team had won its game just a few hundred yards away.

An all-around great year at Broad Run.  Be proud, Spartans!
