The Loudoun County Raiders volleyball team completed the Dulles Double of winning both the district’s season and tournament championships Nov. 3 in Leesburg. But it certainly was not easy thanks to a tremendous effort from visiting Potomac Falls.

After the Raiders won the first two sets, the Panthers rallied to win the next two sets and erased a 6-1 deficit in the decisive fifth set to pull even at 10-10. Undaunted, Loudoun County responded by reeling off five of the next six points to win the set and the match, 25-14, 25-19, 19-25, 24-26, 15-11.

The Raiders (22-1) extended their winning streak in Dulles District matches to 59 with the dramatic victory. The Panthers (18-5) are the first Dulles team to extend the Raiders to five sets this season.

Both teams earned first-round byes in the Region II tournament and will play quarterfinal round matches Nov. 6. Loudoun County will host either Loudoun Valley or Fauquier, while Potomac Falls will play at Kettle Run.
