Jonathan Russell is enjoying a very memorable month in the sport of track and field.
After winning two individual titles and one relay crown earlier this month at the Virginia High School League Track and Field Championships, Russell earned All-American honors with a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles at the New Balance Outdoors Nationals June 18 in Greensboro, N.C.
Russell, who competes for Broad Run High School and NOVA Athletic Club, won the slower section of the 400 hurdles at nationals in a time of 52.38 seconds, good for fourth place overall. Russell ranks first in Virginia and fifth nationally in the 400 hurdles.
Russell will next try to earn a spot on the 2011 USA World Youth team at the World Youth Track and Field trials June 28-29 in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Athletes ages 16 and 17 will be considered for the USA World Youth team based on their performance at the trials.
Each athlete selected for the USA World Youth team will leave Myrtle Beach immediately for Lille, France - the site of the 2011 World Youth Championships. The championships will be contested July 6-10.

Really, cause I didn’t see ONE white guy on the track. Jonathan is a beast! The most unsuspecting athlete I’ve seen. Good job Jonathan! Way to represent for the Spartans!
that white guy really turned on the jets at the end there.
