Six Loudoun football teams begin postseason play Friday night

Briar Woods, Loudoun County, Loudoun Valley, Stone Bridge, Tuscarora and Woodgrove have each qualified for the Virginia High School League football playoffs. All six teams will play region quarterfinal round games Nov. 9. 

Briar Woods and Stone Bridge both earned No. 1 seeds in their respective regions after going undefeated in the regular season. Woodgrove will be making its first playoff appearance.

Four of Loudoun’s six playoff teams will vie for the Region II Division 4 title. Along with top-seeded Briar Woods, Tuscarora is the No. 2 seed, Loudoun County is seeded third and Woodgrove collected the No. 6 seed.

Top-seeded Stone Bridge is the lone local entry in Northern Region Division 5, as is No. 8 seed Loudoun Valley in Region II Division 3.

Region II, Division 4
No. 8 Powhatan (5-4) at No. 1 Briar Woods (10-0)
No. 7 Millbrook (6-4) at No. 2 Tuscarora (9-1)
No. 6 Woodgrove (7-3) at No. 3 Loudoun County (8-2)
No. 5 Liberty (6-4) at No. 4 Sherando (6-4)


Region II, Division 3
No. 8 Loudoun Valley (4-6) at No. 1 Skyline (9-1)
No. 7 Charlottesville (4-6) at No. 2 Western Albemarle (9-1)
No. 6 Fauquier (7-3) at No. 3 Monticello (8-2)
No. 5 Warren County (8-2) at No. 4 Kettle Run (8-2)


Northern Region, Division 5
No. 8 Thomas Edison (5-5) at No. 1 Stone Bridge (10-0)
No. 7 Thomas Jefferson (6-4) at No. 2 Yorktown (10-0)
No. 6 South County (5-5) at No. 3 James Madison (8-2)
No. 5 Langley (6-4) at No. 4 Hayfield (7-3)
