Woodgrove High School celebrated the college commitments of six senior girls soccer players - Katie Beebe (Longwood), Lexi Clarke (Stony Brook), Lucy Etro (Wofford), Addie Healy (Washington and Lee), Tabitha McHale (UNC-Greensboro) and Charlotte Ratcliff (Coastal Carolina) - Feb. 8 in the school library.
Katie Beebe will play at Division I Longwood University in Farmville. She plans to study Exercise Science. Beebe is a National Honor Society member and a participant in the Olympic Development Program at the state and regional level.
Beebe is also in Woodgrove’s Spirit Club and plays club soccer in the ECNL league.
Lexi Clarke will play at Division I Stony Brook University in New York, where she plans to follow a pre-dental path of studies. Clarke scored the first goal in Woodgrove girls soccer history last spring and won the team’s 2011 Wolverine Award.
Clarke has received an All-Academic award each of the last three years and is a National Honor Society member. She played on the USL National ODP Select Team and also runs track for the Special Forces Track Club.
Lucy Etro will play at Division I Wofford College in South Carolina. She plans to study Biology. Etro has been a team captain the last two seasons and received the Wolverine Award for her character and community work.
Etro is also the school’s yearbook editor and a member of the SCA and National Honor Society.
Addie Healy will play at Division III Washington and Lee University in Lexington. She plans to follow a pre-dental path of studies. Healy has received the AAA All-Academic Award and has played ODP State soccer.
She is a member of the National Honor Society, PEER Club and Key Club. Healy has also served as a goalkeeper coach for a youth team.
Tabitha McHale will play at Division I University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She will study business with a pre-law path of studies. McHale has been selected as a Top 20 regional and Top 100 national player on the Top Drawer soccer players to watch list. She is a member of DECA, National Honor Society and has received an All-Academic Award.
McHale has won two gold medals in the Region I championship and four gold medals in the USYS State championship. She led her ECNL team in scoring this year and has attended the USL ODP National Camp.
Charlotte Ratcliff will play at Division I Coastal Carolina University in South Carolina, where she plans to study sports medicine. Ratcliff netted the first hat trick in Woodgrove history last spring and has been selected as a Top 20 regional and Top 100 national player on the Top Drawer soccer players to watch list.
She is on the All-Academic Honor Roll and was an All-State honorable mention choice as a sophomore. Ratcliff has played on a Region I ODP team and helped her squad placed third in the 2011 ECNL Championship.
