Ashburn Ice House will host the “Shoot for Loot” charity hockey event Feb. 26. The event was initiated by 9-year-old house player Nicholas Codd.
Sue Murray, a team mom, got behind the idea, and the pair enlisted the help of the Ashburn Ice House.
18 youth hockey teams will play games from 7-11:30 a.m. on Feb. 26. Parents and friends are encouraged to pledge money for every goal or save their team makes.
Additionally, the rink will host a bake sale and a silent auction, which will include autographed Capitals memorabilia, a spa package and a week-long summer camp.
All proceeds from the event will go to the planned Radiation Oncology and Cancer Center at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital.
