Briar Woods wins VHSL competition cheer championship

The Briar Woods Falcons capped a stellar fall season by taking home the Virginia High School League Group 5A state competition cheer championship Nov. 7 at the Siegel Center in Richmond.

All-Conference 14 competition cheer team

The 2015 All-Conference 14 competition cheer team includes student-athletes from Briar Woods, Broad Run, Stone Bridge and Tuscarora high schools. The team was selected by a panel of coaches from the Conference 14 Cheer Championships.

Falcons fly, flip into first place at LCPS Cheer Championship

After all the chants, dances, flips and tumbles of the Loudoun County Public Schools Competitive Cheer Championship Oct. 7, the public address announcer inside the Rock Ridge High School gym was reading off the judges' final scores, in ascending order of place. As he started to announce the second-place finisher, the cheer squads from Briar Woods and Stone Bridge were gathered in respective circles, holding hands and lowering gazes.

Varsity Fall Sports Scoreboard

Stone Bridge, Broad Run and Briar Woods high schools placed second through fourth respectively behind Group 5A champion Hickory at the VHSL State Competition Cheer Championships Nov. 8 at the Siegel Center in Richmond.

All-5A North Region cheer team

Four members of Stone Bridge High School's region champion cheer squad were selected on the 2014 All-5A North Region competition cheer team. State qualifiers Broad Run and Briar Woods are also represented.

Competition Cheer All-Conference 14 team

Stone Bridge, Broad Run, Briar Woods and Tuscarora high schools are each represented on the All-Conference 14 Competition Cheer team.

Competition Cheer All-Conference 21 team

Dominion, Heritage, Loudoun County, Park View and Woodgrove high schools are each represented on the Virginia High School League Competition Cheer All-Conference 21 team.

Huskies cheer, dance to LCPS championship

With a complex, high-energy three-minute routine featuring a double shot of musical dance sandwiching a minute of cheers and chants, the Tuscarora Huskies won this year's Loudoun County Public Schools Competitive Cheer Championship, held Oct. 8 at Rock Ridge High School in Ashburn.

Tuscarora cheers to runner-up finish at VHSL Championships

Tuscarora and Stone Bridge high schools both advanced to the finals of the Virginia High School League Competition Cheer Championships Nov. 9 at the Siegel Center in Richmond.

Four Loudoun squads qualify for state cheer meet

The Stone Bridge Bulldogs are headed to the Virginia High School League Cheer Championships following their winning routine at the 5A North Region meet. Briar Woods, Dominion and Tuscarora also qualified for the state competition with top four finishes at regionals.

Purcellville teen trades football for competitive cheer

Ayden Sengphiehl wanted to try something different. He had played a few years of competitive football, including a season on the freshmen team at Woodgrove High School.

Conference 21 Competition Cheer results

Sherando High School edged Loudoun County by 2.5 points for the team title at the 4A Conference 21 Competition Cheer meet Oct. 23 at Park View High School in Sterling.

Conference 14 Competition Cheer results

Stone Bridge High School won the team championship at the 5A Conference 14 Competition Cheer meet, contested among six Loudoun schools Oct. 24 at Briar Woods High School in Ashburn.

Motivated Bulldogs steal the show at LCPS Cheer Championships

After placing second just four days earlier as the host school at the Cheers Sports Spirit Bowl, the Stone Bridge High School competition cheerleading squad came into the Loudoun County Public Schools Cheer Championships with a chip on its shoulder.
