    Campaign Statement
My name is Al Nevarez and I'm running to represent Sterling on the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors.I grew up in a working class family. My dad worked in telecommunications, climbing telephone poles and fixing ATMs, while my mom worked as a community activist with local nonprofits. It was from them that I learned the value of hard work and community involvement, lessons that inspired me to run for office here in Sterling. Now living in Sterling Park with my wife Jeane and two wonderful daughters, I have a real stake in our community’s future. My family visits the community center and the library. My daughters will be attending our public schools. I owe it to them, and to you, to make Sterling as great as it can be.
For the past five years, I’ve worked as an economic analyst for the AFL-CIO. I spend my time working through budgets and negotiations, and I have the policy expertise to tackle land-use and budget problems and help plan our community’s future. I’m devoted to fighting for working families. If elected, I will make sure our workers have good jobs, our children go to great schools, and we all have a safer community to raise our families.
