Supervisors to be sworn in Saturday

Swearing in

A swearing-in ceremony will be held for the next Board of Supervisors on Dec. 22 at 10 a.m. in the board room of the Loudoun County Government Center in Leesburg.

Four new faces will be on the board, which will be controlled by a majority of Democrats. The ceremony is open to the public.

The new board’s first meeting is scheduled for Jan. 3 beginning at 9 a.m.

Planning Commission nominee

Supervisor-elect Stevens Miller (D-Dulles) has nominated citizen-activist Sandra Chaloux, of Aldie, for planning commissioner to represent the Dulles District. Chaloux has spoken often at Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors meetings opposing development in Dulles South. She also is the founder of the Gum Spring Regional Citizens Network.

In January, Chaloux filed a complaint with the county attorney’s office accusing current Planning Commissioner Barbara Munsey of attempting to discredit and intimidate her and her slow-growth group during a public hearing Jan. 22.

Supervisors will appoint planning commissioners in January.

Parks seeking public input

The Loudoun County Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services will hold two more meetings to get public input on its many parks and programs. The input will be used in regard to the department’s strategic plan and major objectives for the future:

?Jan. 10, 7 p.m., at the Claude Moore Recreation Center. 46105 Loudoun Park Lane, Sterling

?Jan. 24, 11:00 a.m. at the Carver Center, 400 Willie Palmer Way. Purcellville.
