The Marley effect

INMED Partnerships for Children, based in Sterling, reaches out to improve the lives of children worldwide.

IMED partnered with the Gibson Foundation and the Bob Marley Foundation to bring 25 guitars to school children in Jamaica. Two of the schools in the program are in Trenchtown, where reggae music legend Bab Marley grew up.

The donation April 26 at the Marley estate in Kingston, Jamaica, launched INMED's "Gibson IAMusic" program to develop opportunities for at-risk children in Trinidad and Tobago, South Los Angeles and Brazil. INMED, the Gibson Foundation (the philanthropic division of Gibson Guitar Corp.), the Bob Marley Foundation, local Rotary clubs and the Organization of American States are distributing guitars to schools that have an established music program and not enough - or no - instruments.

INMED develops partnerships with public and private entities to help communities around the world, including in Loudoun County, support the development of healthy, educated children. Go to www.inmed.org or call 703-444-4477 est. 227 for details.
