Firetti accuses York of breaking laws with e-mail

Mike Firetti, who is running for Loudoun County Board of Supervisors chairman, is filing a complaint with the Commonwealth's Attorney Office accusing current chairman, Scott York, of breaking state election and conflict-of-interest laws by using his government e-mail account for political purposes.

This all stems from an e-mail York, an independent, sent to constituents on Oct. 30, defending himself from Firetti's "sleaze-filled campaign," York wrote in the e-mail.

York sent out the letter from his county government e-mail account after Firetti placed an ad in a local newspaper accusing York of having someone else pay his mortgage bills, he said.

"I have lived in my current home for 19 years and no one has ever paid my monthly mortgage bill except me!" York wrote.

Among the infractions Firetti, a Republican, claims York made with his e-mail are embezzlement, taking an in-kind contribution from a government source and breaking state conflict of interest of laws.

He said he intends to contact Loudoun County Attorney John Roberts to ask him to investigate whether York also violated the code of the ethics Loudoun supervisors adopted earlier this year.

From in front of the county's courthouse in Leesburg Nov. 1, Firetti called York's e-mail an act of an official rattled by revelations of "misdeeds -- or so drunk with power -- that he no longer even cares about the wrongfulness of his actions."

Added Firetti: "This e-mail and the sheer chutzpah it represents are all the more reason for this 16-year career politician to be turned out of office."

For his part, York, seeking a fourth term on the board, said he broke no laws and was simply defending himself in the e-mail from "faceless lies" told by Firetti over the past several weeks.

"The guy is a liar and he is shameful," York said.

"Hey, I'm more than happy to be investigated," he added.

Election Day is Tuesday.

Does anyone else here think that Firetti, and his pro-development gang, are just trying to get elected by whatever means possible?

The current crop of Republicans do this stuff all the time (see Plowman's bogus indictment of Tate to benefit Vogel in the Republican primary).

Where are the good Republicans anymore?

One good Republican, Mike Firetti, is trying to oust York, who has had his hand in the county cookie jar for his developer employer, and who has no qualms using the County resources for his own benefit... York has some gall calling anyone sleazy after all he has done...click on Mike Firetti's adds and it will take you to his website--you can read all about what York has done...and Mike's real solutions for the future...

Come on... this is the best Firetti could come up with on York this late in the game. Couldn't the GOP find a good ghost in the closet on York by this point?

They couldn't cause York is clean and honest, and by far the best man for the job. By the way.. saw Dale Myers (AKA GOP puppet master) at fireball's press conf. What does she have planned next??
