Plans to add thousands of homes to be debated

Among a slew of items to be heard over two days of public hearings in front of the Board of Supervisors next week are three proposals that could bring 3,000 additional homes to Loudoun.

Because of a hectic slate of proposals to be debated by residents this month, Loudoun supervisors decided to split November's night of public hearings into two sessions on Nov. 13 and 14.

Included on Tuesday's list of 18 items is a hearing on a 1,169-home development called Arcola Center and another on a 860-home development called Braddock Village. Both proposals are in the Dulles District.

Besides the homes, the developers of Arcola Center want to rezone their 312 acres so they can build 2.65 million square feet of commercial and industrial space. Two hotels are also planned for the site, which is just north of U.S. 50, west of Washington Dulles International Airport.

The 148-acre Braddock Village proposal by Nicholas/Farkas Joint Venture and John D. M. Crear Jr. is planned for south of U.S. 50 at Braddock Road and Lightridge Farm Road in Dulles South. A swimming pool and soccer field are part of their plans.

To be addressed during Wednesday's public hearings is NA Dulles Real Estate Investor LLC's 1,068-home Kincora proposal.

Slated for Routes 7 and 28 and near the Dulles Town Center, this mixed-use project would also include 5 million square feet of office, hotel and retail space.

The developer is promising to set aside 175 of Kincora's 425 acres for parkland.
