Improvements to part of U.S. 15 finished

The Virginia Department of Transportation completed several safety improvements along U.S. 15 north of Leesburg, VDOT officials announced Nov. 14.

The improvements feature center turn lanes, rumble strips, and a truck pull-off area made of a new skid-proof surface. VDOT also constructed a truck pull-off area on the highway for Virginia State Police.

These improvements, which took place along a one-mile section of U.S. 15 between Limestone School Road and Spinks Ferry Road, will keep traffic moving and minimize rear-end collisions where cars stop to turn left onto U.S. 15, VDOT officials said.

The $4.6 million project began last December.
