Buchholz named to all-region

Nicole Buchholz, a 2005 graduate of Stone Bridge, has been named to the 2007 Daktronics All-Northeast Region second team.

The Junior co-captain has already earned honors on the Northeast-10 All-Conference second team and the Northeast-10 All-Academic first team this season. The All-Northeast Region honor is the first All-Region award that a Franklin Pierce University women's volleyball player has received in the program's 20-year history.

Buchholz was the only Raven player to appear in every game of every match including 33 starts in 34 matches. In her first three season at Franklin Pierce, she has recorded 918 kills and 381 blocks in 88 career matches.

Smith earns runner-up

Loudoun Valley 2007 graduate Courtney Smith earned All-Tournament runner-up honors at the first annual Chatham University Basketball Tip-Off Tournament Nov. 17-18 at Chatham University.

Smith scored a team-high 13 points in the championship game loss to La Roche. For the tournament, she averaged 10 points per game and collected five steals while connecting on seven of 12 field goal attempts.

While at Valley, the 5-foot-3 guard was a three-year letter winner and a two-year starter in basketball.

Volley honors for Neikirk

Sarah Neikirk, a key member of the 2004 Loudoun Valley state champion volleyball team, was selected to the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC) All-Conference Team and the All-Tournament team for the 2007 season.

Neikirk averaged 3.59 kills per game, a total of 399 on the season, placing her fifth in the conference. She also ended the season seventh in service aces with a total of 46. Neikirk's team, the Alderson Broaddus Battlers, finished fifth out of 15 teams in the WVIAC.

The 6-foot junior is an outside and middle hitter for Alderson-Broaddus College.
